Last week’s U.S. Open Championship at Pinehurst No. 2 marks another incredible event in the books for Princeton Group and guests. The Village of Pinehurst, located about 70 miles Southwest of Raleigh, was the perfect setting to host guest from all of the world. Princeton Group guests enjoyed true southern hospitality all week at the historic Magnolia Inn. The “Mag” as it is referred to by locals, is situated in the heart of downtown Pinehurst and just a short walk to the gates of Pinehurst No 2.

After posting impressive, even record breaking, scores on all four days, Martin Kaymer won his first ever U.S. Open Championship. Kaymer’s quest for the win began full speed on day 1, with a 65, only to follow up with another 65 on Friday. The 130, two-day opening rounds score set a tournament record, and the German born golfer was on his way to his 2nd major win. His Thursday/Friday partner, Keegan Bradley, said this of his performance, “It was probably the best two rounds I’ve ever seen since I’ve been playing.” Kaymer would go on to score +2 on Saturday, still maintaining a 5 shot lead over Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton. Martin finished off his incredible tournament performance with a 69 on Sunday’s final round, which was plenty enough to clinch his win by 8 strokes.
