Miami Heat – The Streak

Posted by: Princeton Group | Posted on: March 29th, 2013 | 0 Comments

By losing to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, the Miami Heat had their first loss in 52 days.  To be sure, a remarkable streak and the 2nd longest winning streak in sports history.

Throughout the streak, there were some exciting games and comebacks as well as some blowout games in which the Heat dominated.  Some of the more exciting games included the March 20 win at Cleveland in which the Cavaliers led by as much as 27 during the game.  Two days earlier they had been down by 18 to the Celtics and also came back in that one to win by 2.

During the streak, sports reporters and fans debated what would be more exciting and important – a second consecutive NBA Championship or breaking the win streak record of 33 held by the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers.  NBA Championships are hard to come by as many great players such as Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing but they do occur each year.  Many opinions seemed to be that the streak had more historical significance.

Since the Heat did lose, the question is whether they can win another NBA Championship.  With the number one seed in the East, the Heat should have a great opportunity to play in the NBA Finals.  Tough teams such as the Spurs or Thunder may give the Heat a challenge but in the end, we expect the heat to prevail.
